How to Clean Tile Grout in Your Bathroom

Those lines of white tile grout on your steamy shower walls and bathroom floors are magnets for ugly, grimy stains. Here’s a step-by-step guide for using Pine-Sol™ to cut through dirt and soap scum to keep your bathroom looking and smelling great.

TIP: Be sure to check whether you’re using our new concentrated Pine-Sol formula or the old non-concentrated Pine-Sol, as that will determine your dilution ratio. See the chart below and get your ratios right!

Steps

Don’t let grimy grout steal the shine from your bathroom tiles. This step-by-step guide will show you how to use Pine-Sol™ to clean stained grout* and get your bathroom surfaces looking fabulous.

Step 1

Put on your protective goggles, and add ⅛ cup of Pine-Sol Original Cleaner to a bucket containing one gallon of water.

Step 2

Wipe down your tile and grout lines with a clean, damp cloth or sponge to remove any loose dirt.

Step 3

Dip a nylon brush into the diluted Pine-Sol solution and carefully apply it onto the grout lines, working in small sections to prevent the solution from drying out.

Step 4

Scrub the grout lines vigorously, focusing on the most discolored stains.

Step 5

Allow the Pine-Sol solution to sit on the grout for 5–10 minutes. This gives the cleaner time to penetrate and break down embedded dirt.

Step 6

Give the grout lines another good scrubbing. This should leave your freshly cleaned grout looking fresh and renewed.

Step 7

Using clean water, rinse the tiles and grout thoroughly to remove any remaining Pine-Sol residue. Wipe down the surfaces with a clean, dry towel to ensure a streak-free finish.
